In 2017, the government of Umm Al Quwain awarded the Ahmed Bin Rashid Port operating contract to Hutchison Ports under the name of Hutchison Ports UAQ. The company is one of the world’s leading port operators, developers, and investors, with a network of 52 ports across 27 countries.

The UAQ Free Trade Zone expands at a rapid pace with the Hutchinson Ports UAQ, the synergy of this joint operation offers a combination of incentives for investors to set up and operate their projects easily and flexibly, in an environment where businesses can flourish and prosper.

Facilities

The four-berth facility has an 845-meter-long quay and a 23-hectare yard. The port is capable of handling ocean-going vessels. Moreover, there are 118,000m² of land that is reserved for light industrial development. The 23-hectare yard and the 13,000m² of warehouse space are useful for operations at the port. To strengthen the current facilities, the entire complex has been classified as an Uaq Free Trade Zone, providing cost savings to entrepreneurs and manufacturers, such as exemption from taxes and duties on cargo and goods transiting, stored in bond, or manufactured within the Zone. Additionally, there are no restrictions on capital transfers or profit remittances to countries outside the UAE.

It meets all of the equipment requirements, including reach stackers, modern harbor cranes, and other material handling equipment. The authorities enforce a strict code, which ensures that a high level of safety and security is maintained. The port provides shippers and carriers with cutting-edge services such as container handling, as well as general, Ro-Ro, and break-bulk cargo. Other nautical services are also available at the port.
